Keeping the Bridge on the Agenda: The Civic Effort That Kept Mobile’s Bridge Vision Alive

Mobile River Bridge renderingIn the last several months, Mobile area residents and visitors alike could see physical work beginning on the landmark Mobile River Bridge, entering the construction phase of a project that has started and stopped several times over nearly 30 years. In early August the anticipated approval was announced for a federal loan considered paramount for the largest transportation project in Alabama history to become a reality. The Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA) loan will finance up to 49 percent of the project, which will allow for actual work to begin on the 215-foot-tall cable-stayed bridge, beginning near I-10 and Virginia Street in Mobile.

Airbus Projects to Generate $82 Million in Investment and 50 New Jobs in Mobile

Airbus is investing more than $82 million in projects supporting the continued growth of its commercial aircraft operations in Mobile, creating 50 new jobs. The projects include improvements at Airbus’ existing U.S. Manufacturing Facility and the new Airbus Central Distribution Center, or ACDC, scheduled to begin operations in the first quarter of 2027.

Mobile Chamber Board Selects David Rodgers as President and CEO Designate

Myer proposed renderingMYER Industries LLC plans to invest $2.3 million to establish a new manufacturing headquarters and production facility in Grand Bay, creating 24 jobs over the next four years.
